Situated strategically in the crossroads of four departments, the "Alpes de Haute Provence", "Bouches du Rhone", "Vaucluse" and "Var", Mirabeau is held peacefully in the middle of the landscape of hills and small valleys of the regional Natural reserve of Luberon.

Mirabeau is dominated by a castle of medieval aspect which overhangs the village.
From the 12th century the life of the village was bound to the Durance river. Mirabeau controlled the passage of the Durance. The river made it possible to irrigate the cultivated plains and thus contributed to the development the village.
